BRAQUE
Théogonie
HESIOD

Maeght, Paris, 1955
Théogonie contains delicate aquatints (etchings) and photogravures. It was published in an edition of 100 copies, 13 x 17 inches, signed by the artist. Of particular interest is the cover designed by Braque in yellow, orange and black and woven into the design are the birds so familiar in other works of the artist. The slipbox also shows the originality of the artist, many yellowish odd-shaped pieces of paper randomly pasted on a black background.

Other books by Braque include Le Piége de Meduse, a Kahnweiler publication and L'Ordre d'Oiseaux, a magnificent volume in large dimension which also features the Braque birds.
